Who are you, and where are you from?
Ryan Allan from Grimsby, ON Canada
How many years have you been shooting photos?
More than I care to state.
Did shooting photos lead you to where you now call home, or are you a born and raised type?
Photography definitely lead me to California and life kept me there.
Top 5 reasons for staying in the city you call home?
My epic family. Three daughters and my rad wife.
Did skateboarding get you into photography, or did photography get you into skateboarding?
Skateboarding was what got me sparked but photography was always a part of my life. My pops was always shooting photos.
What makes the ideal skateboard photograph setting?
Right person right trick right spot. I can’t define it more than that.
What are your top 5 cities to shoot in?
Any old world European city. Don’t care which.
Where is the best place you’ve been on a trip to shoot?
Miyun, China. Wasn’t a skate shoot but we were shooting underneath old ruins in this rad jungle vibe. Loved it.
Who are your top 5 skateboarders to shoot with?
Who are your top 5 favorite up and coming skaters?

Who is someone you would love to shoot with that you haven’t had a chance to?

What does your ideal skate trip consist of?
Equal parts fun/skate. Has to be a visual place. Nothing worse than bland spots.

What is your main motivation behind skateboard photography?
Making kids realize it’s not just about tricks. Style is everything.

What is your favorite thing to shoot outside of skateboarding?
People Lifestyle/Portrait. I prefer that over skate shots to be honest.
What is your favorite camera that you use?
The one I have when I see something cool. I really don’t care.
What camera do you wish you could use, or use more often?
4x5 with Type 55 polaroid.
Top 5 film cameras?
I’m never worried about it. I like so many things. Hard to pick.
